It's very difficult to critique an image that you like.
This image has a lot going for it: The handling of the tones & the perfect exposure on the tricky white shoes, the lighting, DoF, and the deliberate, visually interesting composition.
All well done and professional looking.
I think the selective de-sat works here, but I'm not sure it works perfectly, and I feel as though voters will hate on a selective de-sat image processing unless it is perfectly complimentary to the image. The red may just not take up enough space or be bright enough to really carry the gimmick. Only other technical thing I can think of is perhaps we could be closer to the ball and shoes, and have less trees and background, but would have to see this in practice.
In sum, I think this is a largely successful image, partially hurt by people not liking selective desat, partially hurt by it just not being very 'Wow', but ultimately a nice stock image.
