Challenge: Shoes II (Advanced Editing VII)
Collection: 2010
Camera: Canon EOS-5D Mark II
Lens: Canon EF 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 DO IS USM
Date: Feb 19, 2010
Aperture: f5.6
ISO: 640
Shutter: 1/250 Sec
Galleries: Street
Date Uploaded: Feb 20, 2010

After two (and a half) lunchtimes and almost 100 photos, this was absolutely my best effort in trying to capture a candid shoe picture (this week). So it goes.
Oh, and it was 300mm. This is a new length for me so, handheld, I'm kind of pleased.(I could have chosen a better ISO with faster shutter speed but hey, I'm still learning).

I love this! There's something so mysterious and enchanting about the boots/coat combination.

I think this image would be a perfect candidate for a new technique I just learned about: Partially correcting blur, in select impact areas, by using the smudge tool... basically you get into it with the magnifying glass and smudge around important edges, like the toe or heel of the boot, to solidify it a bit, just to give the eye an extra little something to hold onto. Just a thought! Maybe it could have an effect on this already great image.

Under-appreciated for sure! Posthumous, where are you?

One of my 8 votes, btw. I like the slight blur caused by the lower shutter speed, too.

I loved this one and voted it very high. I really thought it would have placed higher than this! Wonderful shot!

I feel this should have ended higher up for sure. For what it's worth now...I awarded it a 7 during the voting.

Nice energy to this! I like the candid aspect (obviously - it's my kind of thing!) The blur is fine. And you gotta love that coat!

I love the feel of movement in this shot, the coat is perfect with the boots.

Like the motion and B&W treatment. Has a feel of a 1950's image, at least for me.

I already scored it, but wanted to come back and give comments. I really like this photo. It's probably getting dinged for the softness, but I feel the blur contributes to the feeling of movement. This is one of my favorites in this challenge.
