Shadow on wall. Shot very late at night hence the 3200 ISO. I wanted a very grainy shot so the noise didn't bother me. I added a bit more noise in PS to give a more even grainy feel. Apart from that, slight crop and curves in Lightroom. The yellow is pretty much as i took it, only very slight tweaking in Lightroom.

Post:

YAY!!! FINALLY!!!! :)

and thanks for the great comment signal2noise. Some very good points there but i do think the semantic difference between imagined and constructed is slight. I'd also say that man is a product of nature and not set aside from it which, of course, is perfect for the Brown. Apart from that, yea, the shadow was created by a man of course.

Greetings from the Critique Club

You seem pleased with the Brown ... so I'm happy for you. Van Gogh went unappreciated in his time. So maybe this is a multi-million dollar photo mid-century.

The photo has the feeling one gets very late at night after several too many glasses of Penderyn. I know from experience. It was obviously bespoke made by man, as was its subject. Sadly, it doesn't appeal to me much. I'm rambling on while I try to think of something positive to say ... As an abstract, it has very strong contrast. Seen in a museum from across the room, it would be dramatic and cause folks to wander over for a closer look. It feels to me like a cry of pain, pain created by a culture out of control, pain born from helplessness, and yet, pain not quite willing to surrender ... hence the hand.

Having read what I just wrote, it sounds like bullshit. I'm really sorry. I am at a loss what to say further.

I took a look at your portfolio and challenge entries. I find I do like much of what you've done. Many of your B&Ws and subtly toned images are really very good. Don't let my reaction to this photo get you down.

Oh, the SHADOW. Duh. I couldn't figure out what was constructed by man. However, I was not one of your 1s, 2s, or 3s. ;-)

So with this title are you saying that one of the primary anthropomorphic archetypes of the unconscious mind was constructed by man? I think that is a bit of a stretch - more likely it was revealed, theorized or imagined by man, but not constructed. It is part of the human psyche/condition and therefore a product of nature.
