I like to buy projects for kids because usually I'm not creative enough to come up with ideas on my own. So for Christmas this year, we bought the boys two things: a rock painting project and this volcano. The rock painting was a bust. So much for art.

But this was even worse lol. The manufacturers took a simple project and made it into a complicated mess. And it didn't even work that well. The kids made this sand mold around a plastic cone. Then they had to put in this tube that wasn't made to foster a good reaction between the baking soda and the citric acid. So the white peak at the top is not fake snow. Just a failed mess.

And then, I messed up the color of the lava. I only had gel dye and ended up creating a lovely shade of putrid green. So in essence, the kids ended up making a vomiting volcano.

Lovely...

Could be worse, it could have worked *really* well and exploded all over your kitchen!!!! Great collage of shots, though!

I just find this hilarious, not because it happened to you, but because it could (and does) happen to all of us.

I think Bobby Brady can help them finish the volcano if needed...

Very entertaining photo story! Hope that you at least had a good laugh about the experiment!
As a fellow "noise sufferer" I just wanted to say that these pictures do look very good!

"Every picture tells a story" (Rod Stewart)and this series does so in an excellent fashion. Not only nice but fun. I especially like the differing emotions you caught in the lower two images.

oh how perfect is this = the expressions, the story - I think every parent (believe it or not) has helped their kid with this project and MOST of them fail. But that's like, right. YOU - You have the picture to remember the story. Wonderful!

Funny story, nice shots of yourson's varying expressions. The little image on the left looks a lot like a bird was involved, lol.
