 I know it's another bird shot, but I did have a body part shot in between the last two! The biggest problem was that we had the signature style challenge, and so all I had for free study was a bird.

Now this one, on the other hand, blame the snowstorm. It doesn't snow in Williamsburg, so I had to take shots of birds in the snow. It just so happened that there was a cold challenge. Really! It's not my fault!

Woke up at 12:25, and figured I'd check the score. 7 votes - 7.5714! How exciting is that! Ribbon for sure, I thought. Then I saw all the high scores posted in the thread. And then I look at the entries. What a spectacular group of shots! No ribbon for me, this time around. There are too many awesome photographs. Good luck everyone -- this should be a fun one!

Thanks everyone!! This was such an exciting challenge -- it was over 7.0 pretty much up until the last day and then dropped. It was great fun to see.

These were other possibilities. I loved the other cardinal shot, the attitude, etc, but the snow just wasn't crisp enough.

I just saw this shot. Cool. Photos that contain snow are usually a bear to expose properly. A big CONGRATS on third place. Way to go!

What a great picture, Wendy! Poor little bird does look like she'd much rather be some place warm. Question though: how'd you get close enough to spray-paint over the blue feathers? ;-)

A wonderful wildbird capture. The intricate detail of the feathers and the snow flakes on the beak and head are spectacular. My fav in this challenge. Bumping up to a 10.
