I didn't hand out a Mu award in January but if I had it would have gone to this image. Instead I'd like to retrospectively offer you the first WALL? award for this marvellous image:

Man … DPC really disappoints when it comes to shots like this. Really, well worth a 6+.

I like this one a lot. It's probably tru that a little deeper DOF would be good(at least in DPC land!). HOwever, it has a real in your face attitude to it.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: Great, unconventional image - one that sidesteps 'mere' cuteness (and there is plenty of that) and offers up something that is funny, insightful and wonderfully executed. If portrait work is about capturing personality - you have nailed that here. I love the shallow DOF too (I looking forward to seeing the lens you have used) and you needed to nail the focus, which of course you have done. The crop / composition is great too - adds to an 'in your face' feeling.

Critical stuff: Nothing at all.

Overall: Portrait perfection!
