This little black bird would visit the bush in my front yard every day. He'd sing for us and my cats enjoyed watching him. If he was there when I went out, I'd take a handful of berries off the end of the branches closest to the house and put them on the ground for him (those branches were hard for him to stand on to eat - too long and droopy or some such).

The day I left, after I finished cleaning, apparently a whole flock of something came by and totally decimated the bush of all its berries - all of them. Then proceeded to shit upon the steps such that when the landlord and housing office representative came to do my final inspection, they tracked in recycled berries into my clean kitchen. But I was mostly upset because there would be no more berries for my little blackbird. :-(

What a shame the little blackbird is losing both you and his supply of berries. Blackbirds, which we have here too, always remind me of my mother who used to love them so much she wrote poems about them.
