Thanks so much Melethia. its really encouraging to hear support from talented photographers like Love and yourself. i was hoping to do a little better ( break 6 possibly) but i like how the photo came out and im glad to hear that other people like it too :)

ps: jon loved them. i have several more in my portfolio on here. even ones without his hat.

Woefully underrated. I suspect it may be in part those who simply don't like tattoos because the photography is really quite good here. Nice work with the strobist setup and very good fine-tuning in your processing. I suspect Jon really rather likes it, yes? That's way better than a score here.

Thanks so much for the kind votes on my first free study! :) i agree about the hat but it really wasnt my choice for the photo. this was a shoot i did for my best friend jon before he moved to arizona. he wanted a way to remember this part of his life.

ok...I'm an old fart and I don't see the appeal of tattoo's...every monkey to their own limb...but I will say that the tattoo's are very nicely defined, not like most of the others that I see...it's only me...don't take it personal

Nice portrait, excellent light, and kudos to the ink artist. Not a fan of the hat but I suspect that's not your call to make anyway.

I wonder if this might look good in B&W. Perhaps a touch more contrast would help him to pop out. I would like to see how it looks with the tatooed hand covering the umarked one. Overall nice portrait.7

I like it oversall, but the bg could have been more interesting...7
