Great lighting and nice detail, but placing the horizon in the middle of the flower creates some major problems with this. There is nice contrast between the flower and the green trees, and very little contrast between the flower and the sky. Best of challenges are typically voted pretty critically. I'd focus on the fact that you got almost all 4's & 5's, with a nice number of 6's and a few higher scores.

Light is very nice coming through the petals. I might crop tighter; the background isn't nearly as interesting for me to look at.

Definitely used the rule of thirds well.

Love the light. The image is a bit small, I think, but it still looks good. 6

I probably would have minimized the depth of field even more, cut the dark what ever on the left and gone even lower with the camera to get the green fill half the frame. Having the sun behind the flower is good...
I'm no master however...

Get closer to your subject and go for a simpler background.

A nice image, though I would have liked to see a more careful crop to both eliminate distractions and set the flower in a more conventional composition......5

Crop tree at left. Like the backlighting here. Tree in background also a bit distracting as a background setting for this flower. Dont like the sky line breaking it in halve

Nice backlit flower, your picture has a height of 500 pixels the maximum is 800. I think this might have improved with a bigger size.

Too much of a snapshot feel. If you had cropped away the column on the left , it would have helped a lot. 5

Good clarity on the flower itself and good light. The composition could be a bit closer in my opinion to show it off a bit better and eliminate the tree/pole on the left. Also, the size restrictions have changed - you can have your entries be 800 pixels on the longest side.

pretty flower but too plain

This could have been a good image with a tighter crop, a larger pixel size and just a bit of editing to bring out the colors.

for me the sun is sooooo very blaring on the beautiful flower (one of my favorites) you've lost detail because of that

Nice summer feel to this, but the shot is let down by the object (tree?) running down the left hand side. It has the double effect of distracting from the main subject, and making the shot appear askew.

I'm afraid this must get a vote on the low side from me.

-There is a noticeable tilt to the image, that does not appear to be by design. Sometimes an intentional tilt can add impact, but I don't think that's the case here. Correcting tilt is an easy fix.

-The pole/tree poking in on the left draws my eye away from the real subject and also draws attention to the tilt.

-I DO like the way the blades of grass are outlined by the sunshine, and utilizing the translucency of the backlit petals works well.

Needs a better crop. Needs to not be shot in such harsh light. Needs to be more vibrant.

A pretty daffodil. A few hints to make it better - crop off the tree/pole on the left, straighten the horizon, submit a bigger size to challenges.
