Great choice of shot for delective desaturation. It would be near perfect with some sharper DOF.

I would have desaturated the green shadow a little more (but not all the way) to give even more emphasis to the cricket. Very cool shot.

the extremely shallow depth of field detracts from the overall quality of this photo, you got the selective saturation part right but more of the subject should be in focus

I like the desat job on this, keeping the color on the leaf was well done in just the shadow. but for my personal taste the foreground is too hot

Interesting that you included the shadow for color. Great lighting and strong contrast but I think what hurts this photo is a bit too shallow DOF. I'd like to see the entire grasshopper in focus, hind legs included.

Too shallow of a DoF for my liking.

Would be cool to see the whole thing in focus, and a much stonger photo, I think.

I like it. Very artistic use of the shallow DOF. IMHO, the shadow would have been better off if it were desaturated. 9
