This was a pretty tricky shot because I had to take it right next to a busy area in a local park, and there were cars lining the sides of this street, so I had to shot it at such an angle to not get the cars in the shot, I think it turned out nicely though

GREETINGS FROM THE CRITIQUE CLUB

Oh, what beautiful, icy trees. They look so delicate and lacy it is almost possible to forget they are also a product of cold, cold weather.

When I first looked at this lovely, icy scene, I too said to myself, "oh dear, that road." But I'm not going to belabor the point as it's been made a number of times in your comments.

You were using a moderately wide-angle lens, so unless the grounds were so inhospitable that you just couldn't move around, sometimes taking many pics from many vantage points helps in the final choice. Also, since this is Advanced editing, a little cloning of an unwanted car or two might come in handy.

But you were there, and I was not and you probably already know all this.

There's a pretty good tutorial on resizing here at DPC and if you use Photoshop, their "Save for Web" is a pretty good way of getting a useful size for competition.

Good luck in your future entries in DPC. You've got a good eye and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Alice

Good but could be bigger. Not sure about the composition; I almost feel like we need to see more of the road to get a better feel for the scale and depth of the scene. It feels chopped off.

Nice lines and b&W. A tad more of the road in the pic on right would have been nice

Nice scene, but I think the perspective might be off because of the angle of the road.....at least for me.....6

Could have looked better if there was more of the road. current version a little too bland for me. 6

you've got to love the snow and ice right....makes things pretty but awful to drive in or live in...great lighting/exposure...well done

You should have had more of the road on the picture. If you stood on the other side of the road having the road lead you into the picture with the icey trees on the right would have improved this picture greatly.

Very pretty, but I'd like to see the curve in the road as a key element.

Oh we are buried right now so I know what you mean ..dangerous is right.

pretty but cluttered.

Nice perspective, can't really see the ice, would be nice to get closer to the trees and show more detail.

An interesting image and great contrast between the snow and the trees and road. However, the road being cut off does prove a little awkward. Prehaps keeping the sweeping road as an element in the image, and using a square crop could have turned the road from a distraction to a string element leading through the image, and the square crop would have made the image stand out from the pack
