We got Fergus as a kitten. He was smaller then. As you can see, there's a fair bit of tail involved in Fergus.

Fergus has beautiful fur - maybe he should be called Furgus! I'll bet he feels wonderful to stroke/cuddle.

Fergus looks like my Boopsie w/that big fluffy tail.

I think these cats are called Domestic Longhairs. Fergus is quite beautiful and your photo definitely does him justice. These longhairs are very independent and I can tell by Fergus' expression that he rules the roost.. just like Boopsie.
