Sometimes I enjoy trying to use the golden ratio and Fibonacci sequence patterns in composition. Below is an overlay with these patterns in two separate directions. The squares is the ratio used in one direction and the line is the same ratio but flipped.

Excellent example of the technique. If he were looking any other direction it probably wouldn't work so well.

Interesting photo - like the conrast against background but shoulder (?) at left distracts a bit

Nice to see this with the overlay. Fascinating to look at this in more detail. Rather like it though

WoW! This is deep man. Thanks for sharing your method. Interesting.

I like the landscapes in your portfolio along with other shots! There is a certain neatness in your composition (without them become plastic),
that is wonderful. Now I can guess what care you take to compose.

Wonderful shot! Does this kind of composition come immediately or in an instant. I ask this question because in the picture above, you might not have much time to compose and shoot, as the subject is a person.

I like the man and background, but finds the second shoulder distracting?

So much character in his face and so commanding. He really makes the shot.

The only thing that seems strange to me is his skin color. I don't know if it's the result of a reflection, or a tone you chose, but I feel sorry for him if he is that blue lol. It makes him look like he is ill. But the whole tone tho does enhance the sense of feeling cold. Brrrr

Yer a loony. Even so, it works. This one combines chaos and composition (or appears to). Maybe it's just the old fella, but there's a sense of profound and portentous in it...

Interesting fellow, I too, like his posture.

The composition doesn't really work for me I guess, the placement of the subject with regards to the golden mean and Fibonacci is fine, but the negatives (Really bright bank entrance, shoulder on the left, blue skin tones, slightly tilted) out weight those patterns. All just my opinion and photographic tastes of course.

In general, I kind of look for a square that fill up most of the composition, around 2/3 of the image. In this case I noticed the man was nicely framed just outside of the square. Here is another example of mine, where I looked for the square in my composition.
