 To make this I took the original image and reduced its dimensions by half. I then made the canvas size the original size so that the image was in the upper left quadrant and the extension color was black. I then did a horizaontal flip and then a vertical flip using difference blend mode. Because of the black extension the difference blend mode each time simply ended up giving me four copies of the original, one in each quadrant. THEN I did the usual flip/blend thing with THAT image and got this.

So many avenues to explore! This turned out well. The textures and colours are great and the central motif has a unique look. It suggests to me something embroidered, smocked and pleated.
