We've had a ton of lake effect snow lately and I decided to get out and take a few. Lake effect is when the wind blow over the relatively warm water of a lake and creates snow.

Edit: This is my backyard and the shed is really broken down, I hope it's not filled with snow. Also, there wasn't much detail in the snow so I pushed it a bit to blow it out and create a tad more contrast.

Nice composition, and the feeling of a snowing day!

(Did we loose some detail in highlights?)

this has some really nice contrast. I hope the extra snow didn't damage anything.

That's a lot of snow! It was 77 degrees today where I live. I think I would like a day in snow country....but, only a day!

Man, look at all that snow piled on top. So have you been able to get inside yet to see if it survived? The snow piled on the branches in the back is very pretty. Good for you for getting out in all that and getting a picture lol

Do you use a preset with Silver Efex or make your own? I find more often than not these days I tweak the presets a bit.

I used a preset and then tweaked it a bit. We ended up getting about 6 more inches the day after I took this.

I like what you've done with the whites to boost the contrast. I actually really like flat snow shots with little contrast, but this one is different and very bold. I like it much better this way.

It was minus 40 Celsius up in Røros recently. I'm told if you get a glass of hot water and throw it up in the air it comes down as snow...
Nice snow picture and an interesting shack - like a mansard boat house...

Highlights on snow a bit blown but very picturesque all the same!
