Made a slippery walk today (lots of ice and snow on the road, but not on this photo). A view of a new hotel they're building here, but the foreground is the headquarters of a very Zaanse supermarket company.

Hope you're going to see a lot of photos of the Zaanstreek this year, since I don't have many photos of my own neighbourhood, but, working in Amsterdam, another beautiful city, I'll probably will make some there.

There's a lot in this photo, but it doesn't make it too busy. That hotel looks a bit fairytale. I like how you have it framed with the pillars, ceiling and water.

Cool shot, I bet that did make for a slippery walk! I love that building in the background too with the clean lines, colors, triangles and windows...I hope you can get over to that building :)

Oh I so looking forward to seeing these architecture photos. This is a great start, the columns lead my eye up and down the photo.

Makes me think I have to walk through all that water to get inside - and that would be cold this time of year! I look forward to you showing us your town and more of Amsterdam this year!

That is a cool building. Boy you'd never know that you guys had snow and ice right now. It's interesting to see that someone wanted to add some flair like that to the top part of the building.

Wot, no food?
Good urban documentary - looks like it might be a nice town when they've finished it :)

I like the columns and curves.. however needs to be more dramatic. Think b&w is a good decision...Background building distract you from the front image.

I agree with Covert_Oddity that this would be great at night. I would venture further to say a night shot in B&W would be even better (but I maybe a bit biased towards B&W!)

As others have mentioned, the colorful house behind the calming tones of the water and pillars is really unique. Gives the viewer a clear path toward the focal point of the image (the house). I also particularly like the shadows of the pillars in the water. Yet another detail for the viewer to absorb.

I love all those pillars all with a slightly different amount of light on them, really cool. And then the background, so many contrasting styles. Really nice architecture shot :)

Great start to architecture with so many styles taken in with a single photo.

I see there are lights in the water facing up, my guess would be that the very same shot would be really interesting at night too.

Nice juxtaposition of the rounded architecture of the building up front and the very angular architecture of the green building with the red roof. I really like the looks of the building up front. You might try a B&W conversion, because I think that will de-emphasize the background and really bring out the good qualities of the foreground building.
