Fun image. The lighting is nicely set up, can see catch light in the eyes. I agree the focus is a bit soft. Nice work on not over powering the white shirt.
cheers,
JKH

First impression:
Fun shot. I like the fact the BG is not completely black, but has a bit of light to it. Makes it more interesting.

Suggested improvement:
I think I would have backed up just a bit to avoid cropping at the elbow and so close tot he models left arm.

Nice shot. If I was going to be picky, I would say that the brightness of her right forearm draws some attention away from her face. Her arm was probably closer to your main light, which can be a challenge any time a subject lifts a hand or arm to face level.

Looking at your settings, a brighter light setting with smaller aperture whilst maintaining your 1/160 shutter speed would probably have helped. I also think you could have cropped the bottom up to the hand/wrist articulation.

Thanks for the suggestion! I will try this in the next batch of photos I shoot for this side challenge.

SandyP told me once that on her ports she goes no wider than 7.1 on the fstop for good sharpness on the subject.

thanks for the advice - I am going to give it a try!

But what is an Ohio person doing promoting NY? Go Buckeyes and Bearcats!!!!

I bought some cheap Cowboy Studio monolights. I was quite surprised as to what I have been able to do with them. I appreciate all the comments very much here about the sharpness. This is something I have struggled with for some time. I will go ahead and adjust the f/stop as recommended here...

thanks very much!
