had a GTG with SandyP, redjulepand Love yesterday. We were walking along South Congress Avenue in Austin and this guy had his guitar case open with quite a few dollar bills in it. I added a couple and took this shot.

Great candid image. The contrast is a bit heavy for my taste, I would liked to have seen little detail in the guitar (wood grain). The cropping is spot on and the shot is nice and sharp.
cheers,
JKH

Ohmy! I remember you shooting him -- but I never would have imagined that such an artistic portrait could come from it. Talk about turning ordinary to extraordinary with the master's hand! Wow! Makes me wanna go back and try harder with some of the musician shots I got :)

Great candid and I think Black and white was the perfect choice for this shot.

great subject for street photography. I think that you have too much contrast as the wood grain of the guitar and bricks in the background have lost the detail. I would pull that back and if this was a raw file add some more clarity to improve the details in the mid tones. Its great to get the reflection in the window but I would have shot it at a different level so that the street light would not meet at his eyes.

First impression:
Great environmental portrait. Your choice of B&W works well with street photography.

Suggested improvement:
The contrast is a little to much for my liking.

I agree with others - this is a portrait with a bit extra; the peri-person stuff gives a really rich environmental context.

hey judy, this is really nice, i am especially intrigued by the fact the shirt and guitar seem so "high key" but not blown, good job.

i like the choice of strong contrast here and the deep blacks of the background. the thing that really draws me into the scene are the squares and rectangles throughout - the squares of the truck window, the frets, the plaid behind him, the bricks

I agree with denbote, excellent candid portrait. He is nicely depicted in his environment, which is helped further by the reflection in the glass behind him.
