Looks like he ju-ust made it out of a sizeable close out. Nice moment you've captured here, not sure how many non-surfers will appreciate it though.

I love taking these types of shots. However for me, this one just doesn't give me a strong sense of wow. Sure there is a huge wave or churned water all around the rider. But the board looks flat and the rider looks about ready to bail. For me there is not enough clarity of image/story. Perhaps if there was more contrast to create drama in the water it would offer something extra.

Haha. Nice action capture- the pose is excellent. I would like to have seen things from a bit wider perspective though, in order to get the scale of the wave crashing and just to improve perspective a bit. It feels like I'm being swallowed by the wave like the surfer as well, and I'd prefer to see the magnitude of how much the surfer is being swallowed, if you get me. Still good.
