An Irish Wolfhound mom and her newborn pup. I never cease to be amazed that a 12 ounce pup can grow up to be a 145 pound dog (bitch, really ... the dogs are typically even bigger). Mom is sweetly devoted to cleaning and feeding the little ones and keeping them warm. Loved this shot of a sleeping pup under Mom's chin, even though it lacks detail and sharpness. To me, the emotion is clear, and the soft light was just right for that.
At ISO 3200 so it's a bit blocky, but I like the painterly feel for this subject.
PP - levels, white balance, dodged a little, cloned out a bit of lint, cloned out rug wrinkles and a bit of another pup, changed rug color, desaturated a bit of Mom's fur, resized, sharpened, added border, burned parts of border.
