 Traditional Dutch for this day. Oliebollen. Contains currants and raisins! (Not baked at home, but they taste very, very well!) Copied this text from my 2008 end-of-year photo :)

The end of the December Whatever, a Photo-a-Day 2009 and a Photo-a-Week 2009 challenge. It looks like yesterday when I started this all and what a fun it was! Thank you very, very much for looking and commenting.

The dark BG and backlighting work to accent the shapes and focus attention on the subject in this shot. Happy New Year to you too.

These sound like the kiffels my German (Penna Dutch) grandmother used to make.. wrapped dough filled w/currants and raisins and maybe some chopped nuts and sprinkled w/powdered sugar. I think the Dutch and German pastries are very similar.
