I love walking through woods. There arent enough bit thick woods left anymore. You can always hear the road, which is annoying. I desaturated as I like the shapes and contrast of all the trees & the different light on them all. Without colour they become lines & shapes

I like this, it reminds me a lot of the woods near where I used to live in Scotland. B&W works well, the shapes and details here are interesting and I think some of them may be lost in colour.

Wonderful lights/darks here. And in your picture, you can't hear the cars at all.

The darker foreground and bright BG adds a lot of depth in this shot. Have you tried experimenting with pulling saturation all the way down, then playing with the individual color sliders to see how it affects contrasts? It's like using strong color filters when shooting B&W film. It can help to bring out detail that would be blended into the BG by only reducing saturation.
