If I had known this was an "asinine attempt at a 6", I wouldn't have given it an 8. ;-) It has unique appeal, IMO.

I love the forest/trail shot, although the color seems oversaturated, and the umbrella contrived.

Fun idea and composition. The path provides a lovely leading line. However the color adjustment seems overdone and has left what is for me an unnatural pinkish/orange cast to the whole picture.

i think I would have went with a green (or almost any other color) umbrella. Green would have "popped" off the page, the red just blends in too much and you lose sight of the intended subject.
