My grandaughter examines a globe that Santa left for her in her Christmas stocking.

For Christmas morning, I took a tip that I saw on Strobist, and placed a couple of optically triggered flashes in opposite corners of the room, plus the one on my camera. With all three bounced off the ceiling, I was able to get some good light in most of my shots, and a reasonably fast shutter speed. Having a new super-camera that performs well at higher ISO's didn't hurt either.

Special thanks to NikonJeb for some editing tips.

A good candid portrait, but it's not going to bowl anyone over with wow-factor. I anticipate a low to mid 5 finish for this.

 Anticipated critiques:
-Colors just behind her head are distracting. (It's the TV)
-Focus seems slightly sharper on the globe than on her face.
 -Too much Noise reduction.

 Post challenge notes:
A disappointing average, but I suppose this is what a good snapshot is truly worth on DPC. I suppose nothing about this shot really made a connection with most people. My family loved it, however, and that's who the photo was really taken for. |
