 Basic adjustments in iPhoto.
Copy to Graphic Converter to resize and upload.
It's a "Great Egret". This one feeds along a canal bank and I know where to find him when I need an egret.
Shot with an old manual Nikkor 300mm f4.5 ED IF Ai and monopod, and manual exposure settings.

The bird looks a little out of focus to me it looks like the auto focus has picked out the background.
That said it's a good looking portrait, showing the stillness of the bird

It's always hard to capture these white birds without blowing out the highlights. I usually keep my exposure stepped down 1/3. It seems to preserve more detail.

I really like the deep greens contrasting with the white subject. The fact that the subject is taking a step is really cool.I'm not sure if he is just slightly out of focus or that you didn't sharpen the image in post processing but I would have preferred to view the subject with better detail definition.
