I got a macro lens for Christmas and thought I would prowl around the my wife's grandmother's barn for picture. The barn's windows were directly across from each other. Focusing on a torn screen, I used the light coming through the window on the other side of the barn.
Created sepia with optikverve. Created blank layered filled it with black. Added noise filter and blended as "softligt". Created another blank layer and filled it with black. Went to filter>texture>grain. Selected vertical grain and blended with "screen" option.

Very effective use of a vignette. I like this quite a bit. Good job.

OK, I'm going through the Free Study submissions, purposefully finding those images I think are shot with a less conventional eye - this is one of those images! Thanks for offering something that isn't just DPC friendly eye-candy (though of course there's nothing wrong with eye-candy). I'll be picking one of these images for the Mu (most underrated) award:

Positives: I like the 'feel' of this image and how it makes me stop and look. I really like the grainy, scratchy look too. I also like the vignette.

Critical stuff: I'm not too much of a fan of the blur - at first I thought it was a Lensbaby shot but I've never got a shot where focus drifts and then returns as it does here.

Overall: An intriguing shot but that I find a little unsatisfying.

Interesting capture. I really enjoy the mood and feel to this piece. I think I will bump this up a bit more on this second view. I think my largest complaint about it will be that the vignette is way to dark. Less of course this was shot with a spotlight or something else that created the circle effect then I would say to have opened it up a bit more and not created it so dark.

I'm going to make it a 7 just for making me smile and think a bit.

I think I saw Screen II, but I've never seen the original. :P
This makes a cool and eerie image.

I like the artiness of this, but I suspect that most voters won't 6
