What happened next. Fun!

I've decided to add a new tradition to my life, to get some photos twice a year on the solstice that showcase the quality of solstice light. If I can I will do the same shot. So I can put them side by side. This one was taken the day after solstice, cos I just had this idea.

I tried to make this border look like a mat, like you get before you frame it.

What do you think?

Great idea! I'll look forward to seeing the completed Solstice image. I'd also be interested to know which you feel is more significant.. winter or summer.

Although your edited version is nice, I prefer this one. Nice light indeed! I think the border fits very well here.
