The light is a Cannon Speedlite 430 with Blue filter.

This is just to show a simple way to create not only a silhouette but also how fun lighting can be when using colour filters and falloff.

As we can tell the lights main brightness, or center is the hot spot to the right of the image. However with the light aimed there, it allows for the darker blue to come through on the edges.

There are other ways to do this as well. To create a more even colour across the background one may point the light across the back of the model, being careful to block spill from coming forward to maintain the silhouette of the model. This will cast a more even spill over the backdrop.
