Another in a long line of boring self-portraits

Just for my own amusement really, I took some pictures trying to look bored and when processing one I tried it high-key and thought hmmm... So I put on a white shirt and took a couple more. The result probably looks more wistful than bored, but what the hell, I had a bit of fun doing it so I'm inflicting it on you.

Let's see how many complaints I get about my personal grooming this time.

Lighting - The room light which is a 20W low energy bulb and has a paper ball type shade and a silver reflector on the table in front of me.

Processed using Gimp 2.6.7
rotated to portrait
converted to mono using the channel mixer
curves to get the blacks black
re-sized
sharpened
hue adjustment to make it slightly blue

I loved this image - it's simplicity is the key. Just perfect for the challenge!

High key works very well for this. Good luck.

Excellent tone. Almost bored to death!

Great expression and high key is very effective at both concentrating the eye to the face and adding to the sense that all around is dull uniformity. One of my top picks in this challenge.

I had a hard time with this because the capture indicates an emotion that extends beyond boredom - almost into despair or depression. However, boredom is a component of depression so it does work. After thinking about it for a while, I've concluded that so far, it's the best that I've seen in this challenge and worthy of ribbon consideration. Technically and artistically competant with a strong visual and emotional impact. A favorite. Well done.

I like this... And as a rule I do not like high-key...

Great high key shot depicting the bored challenge. In all honesty I think low key may have been a more obvious choice, so this was unexpected. You did capture a very dreamy effect with the high key which serves to add a sense the man is daydreaming!

seems to say more sorrow than bored to me, but still a good pic
