This is Don, lead guitarist in my band. An opportunistic shot we were playing at my father in laws 70th birthday so the real target was to document the family ... but I was very taken with sheer concentration and getting into the zone by Don also the spot lights lent themselves to a contra-jour entry. Is the original, I B&W'ed it by hand (desat, curves, more desat) because although I like the colours I think they detract from the emotion. I cropped it the way I did because I feel it sits on the eye better though to be honest I would crop differently if it were not for the contra-joure entry (in fact if I had not had such a disasterous science entry I would have cropped the light out for this competition). I'm wondering why I like this version with the top of his hair cropped out and I think it is because it lends a degree of closeness that contrasts with the distance to the spot light.

Shot meets challenge but a bit lacking in contrast. White shirt is too blown.
