Genus - Pterostichus
Brought this guy indoors (it was snowing outside!), with some leaves, dirt, and wood bark, and took his photo. Quite a lively fellow after he warmed up...TOO lively. ISO 1600 at F2.8 was still nearly not fast enough to catch a decent shot. I know, I know...could have put him in the freezer...that just seems mean. Had to focus in anticipation and track him some with the camera. I suppose flash would've helped. One of these days I'll have to figure out the art of flash photography. :-)
Oh, BTW - If you haven't figured out by now, I didn't shoot this at the last minute (I was kidding in the forum thread). :-P

the focus seems a little too far back. I'd love to see the full head in focus. |

Good take. May have cropped a little tighter for impact but nicely shot all the same. (Not voting) |

this is quite good....and like mine has "soft focus spots" in different areas..translation...not quite as super sharp as it could be...I know that with mine it was really hard to get the buggers to sit still long enough to focus |

Excellent POV and I very much like the shallow depth of field. I'm right there with the critter. 9 |
