Camera: Nikon D700
Lens: Nikon AF Nikkor 20mm f/2.8D
Location: Port Orford, Oregon
Date: Nov 18, 2009
Aperture: f/11.0
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/500th
Galleries: Nature, Seascapes
Date Uploaded: Nov 24, 2009

Rotated, cropped, adjmt layers (bright/cont, hue/sat) shadow/highlight, sensor dust removed in PS/CS3.

I wanted to title this "Where Clouds Come From", but wasn't sure if members would appreciate my sense of humor.

Someday, I hope we have scratch and sniff photos/monitors. Smelling the sea air would really add to the effect... as would audio (with a super big subwoofer)... and having the ground shake a little like when these powerful waves smashed into the rocks.

I'm sure you'll get your share of shoehorn comments with this, but it is a beautiful capture with the cloud/wave juxtaposition.

The raw power of the eternal sea can be seen in this excellent capture. It has a primordial knowledge contained within it, a certainty that things will always be, in Nature's fury or her benevolence. The sky clouds reinforce this movement yet at the same time echo it. Kudos, well done, beautiful.

Great idea and capture. What I really like is how the clouds seem to mirror the waves.

Great take at the challenge, I am guessing you are being hammered for DNMC though.. I like the water and clouds showing up the cycle.. I wish it was a closer crop and a little more saturation! 6

You need a little bit more contrast, it's a bit flat.
