Music is a science, even its own study at Norwegian universities. The picture itself isn't that great thou... I much rather have a more "Mozartly" style with a grand piano, a fireplace, lots of candles, a wine bottle, etc, but this what was I had time to do! Hope it does fairly well...
Editing VERY simple... Shot in RAW, opened in RAW, opened image in photoshop CS4, resized to 785pixels, added a "orange" border at 5 pixels, then a black one at 10 pixels. And slightly USM. The setup itself was more complicated!
Black sheet as a backdrop (I'm fed up with sheets now, gonna buy the damned backgrounds or make something myself which doesn't ruin the photo if it's slightly iluminated), SB-25 gelled with an orange gel a few feet over the candle as main lightsource. Constantly boiled water and poored into the mug, sb-800 also gelled orange fired at minimum power to light the steam. That was it!
Once again, HOPE IT DOES WELL!!! I worked so hard to get this... |

Hi, you did well to get 6 comments. I have a really good scoring entry right now and I have only 3 comments... DPC is wierd. The comments are worth more to me than the 1,2,3 voters however... :)
I like your shot and idea of writing music as a science but think it was too underexposed and the shadows and lost in space background for more than a 5. |

perhaps you were going for this but the colour temperature is a bit warm for me, which is accentuated by the fact that the white paper appears orangish |

A bit underexposed, but I like it very much. |

This is really well done! I just wish there was a little more light showing the ink pot and mug definition better! And the smudge on the bottom right is distracting 8 |

Nice setup! A little dark though. Teasing a bit of fill light in to define the coffee mug and other dark shapes would make this a little clearer. |
