 develop the raw with photoshop. in photoshop:crop,levels, curves, S&H, burn something, clone out some reflection, selective gaussian blur on the upper side, usm.

Nice lighting and BW treatment works here. But still no wow factor, I think it would have been better with a brighter BG instead of black BG.

There a creepy feel to this one if that's what you were going for. And with the focus on the hand, it feels like its reach at me!

OK, I'm going through the Free Study submissions, purposefully finding those images I think are shot with a less conventional eye - this is one of those images! Thanks for offering something that isn't just DPC friendly eye-candy (though of course there's nothing wrong with eye-candy). I'll be picking one of these images for the Mu (most underrated) award:

Positives: Well - I figure that this is about as unconventional an image as they come. Certainly not something you see every day. The focus on the robotic hand is great and coupled with your chosen depth of field and the bizarre head, these elements conspire to offer something of great interest. The contrast monochrome and excellent lighting contribute a great deal too.

Critical stuff: Nothing

Overall: Really excellent.
