 I had wanted to go to the shrine to take pictures of children in kimonos, but just couldn't make it on the weekend. So I just settled for some thistle-like flowers I'd taken photos of two weeks ago (these are different flowers, of course). Shot using coloured paper for the backgrounds.
I wonder if this is the only entry without borders. ;-Þ

Interestingly, this is what I might have entered for the triptych challenge four years ago. I had more or less forgotten about it, but it's been there in my macro folder a long time. ;-Þ

7 - Unique. Look at those bugs in the middle - ha. Looks like it needs a little further something, especially in the middle and end photograph - but could be the colors confusing my mind...

I personally had this in mind and did a shoot, but opted out when I realised a lot of people will do it. I like your photo(s) and the uncommon background.
