This is my friend Danielle.. She and I were just playing around having fun.. She loves to have her picture taken so we set up my studio lights at her house and she dressed up and we did a bunch of different shots.. Took me forever to figure out a title.. I predict a 5.4...

[Oct. 20th, 2009 10:33:11 PM]

I KNOW it's soft.. I would dare to say, that is my style. Plus, this image is meant for print, not just DPC (OH, gasp, did I say that) so I can't wait to post the original and a tighter crop so the people who think I overshopped her face can give me their opinion again.. I don't think they are wrong, but I would like to give them a chance to see where the image started and then what the detail actually shows.. Can't really see much of any detail at this file size.

tighter crop of face.. lots of detail left.

orig.. I hope she doesn't kill me for posting this.

She is a doll and the sex companionship is what's expected here (based on the title if I have to spell it out)...or have you forgotten after kid #2? lol

Your editing is excellent! I really like how you've brought not only softness to the picture, but warmth as well. And it does not hurt that your model is gorgeous to start with. :-) Really nice work here! Congrats on the excellent score and placing and a new shot in your top row.

Lovely model, great lighting...the "soft" processing was a nice touch. I agree with Robert...the title makes this great, a Romantic Comedy waiting to happen.

Maybe you could have posed her in a RV and titled it "Desperately Pursuing Clark"? ROTFL

Good work!

LOL... That's hilarious...

First of all, the softness that you are worried about, I simply love it, I don't care what the rest say, I love the dreamy effect, and if was intended then you achieved it perfectly.
3 things I don't like '' hiding behind my desk ''

1- The distracting background, she is beautiful, you chosen the style that matches her beauty, just too many darn distracting subjects in the background, the white thing back left, the tableau top right, I'd either remove them, or control the light more that they are dark. Or simply '' if not in a challenge '' burn and darken them to the maximum.

2- Th shoes, I think it would be more sexy to have her bare foot.

3- And last, he smile, I am not sure if a direct eye contact and smiling achieve the mood. I'd rather her looking camera left down with a serious expression on her face, or look at the camera with a serious expression.

This is of course my 2 cents, I hope my critique is taken in a positive way, the only reason I commented on this picture is because I simply love what you did with it. and btw it is the only picture I commented on at this challenge, very well done and keep up the good work, you are at the right way :)
Cheers,

wow.. Thank you so very much for taking the time to leave this comment... I want to reply, but the kiddos need feeding right now, so once they are in bed I'll be back to explain some of the choices that went into this image.. :-)

Thanks so much for all the great comments... She's an awesome gal, a lifelong friend, we met when I was 14 and still talk every week, and this shoot was just for fun.. She's never been desperate for companionship which made it even more fun when I thought of the title.. LOL..

I'd love to hear feedback in reference from the original to the final version... I know it's still gonna be considered soft, but I love soft portraits.. I just can't stop myself when processing them, not matter what.. I'd make the devil look soft & dreamy.. :-)..

if only she was holding up a sign with her phone number. :P

I think it's great, wouldn't change a thing! ...oh except the title. :D

I have to agree with you about the size of images not displaying their true qualities. Congrats!

The background is slightly distracting, and I don't think that she is desperate.

She looks eager...nice erm skin tones. Très étourdissant! Background is cluttered however. Not voting.

Nice lighting, setup, wardrobe and makeup. Softness is a bit too much for my tastes.

I really like the concept of the image., It almost looks like her face is a little "over shopped", It may be my monitor and if it is, I am sorry, Other wide very nicely done, I like the softness of the subjects arms and legs, and overall comp on the image is a 10. Keep up the great work, Anxious to see how this one scores overall. Good luck..

Feasible title for a movie; though completely infeasible that a lady such as your model would ever have difficulty in finding companionship!!

Photographically - very well lit, focus just a tad soft for me, I perhaps would have kept that effect (if it was software induced) off the face. The picture on the wall and the door are a little distracting - you could've cloned these out under advanced without falling foul of the rules.

Overall - nice job.
