Challenge: Hidden Treasures (Basic Editing)
Camera: Nikon D90
Lens: Nikon AF Zoom-Nikkor 35-70mm f/3.3-4.5
Location: Johannesburg, South Africa
Date: Oct 4, 2009
Aperture: F/10
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/80s
Galleries: Animals, Food and Drink
Date Uploaded: Oct 6, 2009

Spotting such a well camouflaged Gecko was treasure enough for me...and getting his eye and the ant in focus while hand held at 1/80th of a second was tough. I only got about 10 or so shots of him/her.
Export from RAW, USM, cropped to make the Gecko main focus, and ant secondary, added border.
I wanted to call it "Aaaaachooo!" but thought that might not work with the Challenge Title...or the DNMC brigade who won't make the connection of sneezing Gecko, Airborne Ant, Lost Treasure (Food)...

Very cool. I think I saw one of those in Botswana.

ETA: I've looked again and I think I see what you're going for, with his tongue reaching into a crack. Hard to see against that background, and still doesn't conjure up a "treasure" to me, but bumping you up to a 5 because its closer than I initially gave you credit for.

Thx for commenting and ETA'ing. His tongue however is not poking out. I would have cropped this shot better if not for the ant...who is actually dangling on a spiders web!

Thanks commentators (4 of you found Waldo, the hidden ant) and voters! I'm thinking 73 of the voters also spotted him. This challenge and the stats below tell me a lot about how DPC thinks and interprets them. I also realised that subjective/dubious challenges should result in a shot that almost needs to be in your face to do well.

<5 = 45 (I don't think they got it)
=5 = 77 (I think they did or didn't get it and were being kind)
>5 = 73 (I think they got it)
