BTW - have had several comments about X symbol being a swastika. Before I even considered uploading the picture I checked on the internet to make sure it is NOT!! a swastika. Without a doubt some people's vote was influenced by a perception that was not correct. Oh well . . . next time I will be more careful or add a disclaimer in the title. Check it out a wikipedia //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swastika.

I did look at the Wikipedia entry for Swastika during voting, and found there are a number of variations from different cultures. I never knew that before. This one is different from the usual Nazi version in that the arms go the opposite way. Still gives the same impression however. Regardless, it is still a good photo and I realized the symbolism was not intentional on your part. Got an 8 from me, though I expect that symbolism is what kept this from getting a higher average.

A swastika? The shot is very good, but I have to admit this is also some uncomfortable imagery. I'm wondering what the story is behind this being scratched on the side of this canoe. Perhaps this is not as much of a paradise as it appears as first glance. Have to give this a a good vote for a well done photo that also makes one question and think about it. Hope you left some notes on this.

Looks more like a swastika, but I do like this picture with the symbol as an X.

Although the X is not the first thing that jumps out at me, it's big and it's ON the first thing that jumps out. Nice, crisp colors on the boat (kind of oversaturated on the sky), and good sharpness and DOF. I would've liked the horizon to be straight. 7

Why would there be a swastica on a tropical boat? Interesting.
