Corndog stand at the Plano balloon festival. I was going to use a balloon shot in this challenge, but this one really seemed to come together and work for me. The title is a tip of the hat to 21_F.gif Jutilda, who left a comment about liking them for breakfast when I posted this on Flickr. 21_F.gif Melethia thought the idea was yuck, however.

Pre-challenge notes:
Not sure how well this will fare against all the fantastic landscapes that will be in this challenge, but I think it has some potential. Hoping it's worth at least a mid to high 5.

Potential critiques:
-Not enough subject matter close to the camera to show off the deep DOF
-Boring subject (Nailed by 31_N.gif saved)

Thanks for playing!

Post-challenge notes:
Came in about where anticipated and hoped for, though early voting had me hopeful for a 6+.

Okay even if you took a picture like that with a spinach booth instead of corndogs I'm sure it would still attract all the children :) Amazing clouds and colors

I don't think this was a "boring subject". I like your eye for things. Probably the small canvas DPC offers let you down more than anything. It does make the BG people small and insignificant. If you had too much going on on the right, however, it would detract from the subject. The sky is awesome and I love clouds like this. Do you use any Wide-radius USM on your shots? You have to watch for halos, but it might provide just a bit of contrast kick to the clouds (and you could mask whatever you didn't like). I usually start around 25/40/3. Give it a try.

Great colors in this picture, nice comp, too. I've still yet to try a corn dog....

Never been able to handle them after a bad experience at LAX. But aside from your questionable taste in breakfast food, the photo rocks! Love the color and it's definitely sharp from front to back!
