Some sort of hybrid, possibly mixed with Canvasback. Last spring I saw a Canvasback hen being pursued by three drakes at this pond: a Canvasback, a Pekin and a Mallard. She eventually wandered off into the bushes for some privacy with the Mallard. This could be one of their offspring. Noticeably bigger than the other Mallards in the pond (there were a few other mixes there, too).
Taken during a break in pre-wedding prep when an appointment got moved back two hours and we had time to kill ;-) We called it Duck Therapy. Probably not the best processing job I've ever done but I just wanted to take a few minutes to do something normal, like process a picture of a duck!
PP - converted from RAW, cropped. white balance, tinted water a little bluer (it was pretty brown), levels, dodged duck's eye and a little on body, resized, sharpened.
i like what you did with the water. i've found that a lot of times i have brownish water in my shots like this and now i'll see if i can try to do something similar to make it more blue. thanks for the inspiration :)
