 I find Heida's work both dark and compelling. I attempted to pay homage by creating an HDR image with dark brooding sky tones combined with bright colors on lively grass seed head. I think it also combines the dangerous sharpness of the hard thorny vine with the soft and furry seedhead

Three photos taken at ±2 eV, then created a fourth in Capture NX2 at +3.5 eV

All four images combined and aligned using Qtpfsgui (default settings)

Applied Fattal tone mapping
Selective modifications to brightness, contrast, color balance, sharpness in NX2

The sky is maybe to overprossesed because I'm having a hard time just seeing the motive in this shot. A little less and you would have a very vey nice homoage.
