Hi from the C Club

You asked for an in depth comment on your shot.

Brilliant idea!! Very colourful!

Now lets do some nitty gritty stuff. First off it does look like it is out of focus, i see that was touched upon by your comments as well. On your original shot, that is definitely soft, not so much out of focus , but soft

Looking at it for a fairly long time, you can see where your focus was when you shot this. I think what is happening here is more along the lines of an optical illusion. Your focus is on about 3 pieces of glass, the rest is soft, because there is so much glass, it over whelms the in focus pieces. This one was a very difficult shot to get in focus and look like it was in focus.

The lighting is fairly harsh on this as well, have you thought about sticking a light bulb into the glass? You said that you are trying different things, there are tons of different ways to light something as well.

Going from the original shot to this, I see that you did use sharpening and you did it really well. There is not a lot more you could do in post processing that would have made a huge difference as your saturations and colours are good.

And you don't suck, you are learning, we are all learning and growing, just as you are!

Great colors, I think a little lighting adjustment would help though...
