Challenge: Pink II (Basic Editing)
Collection: Challenges
Camera: Canon EOS-5D
Lens: Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM
Location: Mystic, Connecticut

Aperture: f/4
ISO: 1600

Processing is pretty minimal actually, see original posted below. The cause of the reflection is that the sail loft is "walled" off from park visitors by floor-to-ceiling plexiglas panels. Penny is going down the stairs to the ground floor. Note her reflection superimposed over the sign outside, that really is serendipitous...

This is quite fascinating: less than 8 hours to go in voting, 15 comments (mostly very positive, really) and a Posthumous blue for a 4.8-scorin' image...

Even more interesting, someone called this up for validation :-) And it's one of the least-processed images I've entered in DPC...

Here's the original:

Thanx a ton to Don for the Posthumous blue! It means a lot to me.

ETA: I'd been shooting into the dark loft, hence the high ISO and wide aperture. This shot was a grabshot as penny preceded me down the stairs, note the hysterical shutter speed :-)

Gotta marvel at the performance of the 5D in these conditioins, really.

Serendipitous - and the rest. I think lady luck gets a lot of help when she's in your part of town.

Either way it's a beautiful mess of reflection and a worthy posthumous blue.

Hurrah.

You know, I never noticed that cross :-( My concern was that I wanted to cut the tops off all the windows; I did NOT like how they looked when completed, it was too pat. And that pretty much took care of the cross...

Congratulations on these two, well deserved, awards! Aren't you glad I chose to wear a pink hat that day :-) !

I really liked this shot during the challenge. It was/is intriguing for sure. I think any photo that makes me look at it longer is a great photo and this was one of those. I did score down a little because the color pink was supposed to be the primary color in the shot and the hat takes up such a small amount of real-estate. In a free study or a different challenge I would have scored much higher. I really loved all the reflections. The grain didn't even bother me. In fact I don't think I even realized it til I saw the other comments.

It's a beautiful one of a kind shot and I'm glad you got the posthumous blue!! You deserve it.

Wow; seriously underrated by the voters! Quite a difference in score by commenters vs. non-commentors.

Intriguing camera settings, too :-)

I don't get it. This is awesome. A 4.9? That's ridiculous! This is so much better.

Amazing photo! I already gave a blue, but nothing's better than this. So, you get blue two...

Not happy with how it has been overlayed. Seems to not blend well together.

is this a double exposure? there is something about it that is very distracting. and seems very grainy.

How intriguing! Very difficult to tell what is "real" and what is reflected. Fascinating to explore.

A thoroughly intriguing image, and one that has drawn me back again and again. Bumping to 10, and my favourite of the challenge.

Fantastic image. Great idea, good execution, 150% more creative than the 1001 flowers out there. A cut above the rest, well done!

Hmmmm... I'm having to think about this one. Not quite sure how it fits in with pink, other than the pink hat (which seems there only so you can submit the pic into this competition). But there's no way I can bring myself to give this picture anything less than a 10 its got everything a great picture should have in it, composition, narrative, well taken ... a picture one can take time to look at and think about.

There is a lot going on here......I like all of the reflections.....very interesting. Pink isn't the predominant color, but it's the first color you notice. 8
