This is hand held with my P&S while operating the tool with my other hand. Flash stopped the motion, but allowed the shot to be sharp.
I was making a pulley to fit a mowing machine for the place where I am currently working. They broke the original pulley by trying to get it off the machine. The only way to buy the pulley new is to buy the entire $890 transmission that it goes on. This is a $7 generic pulley with a $2 set collar welded to it and holes drilled to match the original one. Here I am cutting out or "boring" the inside of the collar to fit the original hub. The pulley turns with the lathe chuck behind it, and the cutting tool is moved into it to make the cut. The cutting shavings are spiraling out of the pulley.

Back in the day......I'm a mechanic myself. The difference between a mechanic and a technician is that a mechanic can actually work around the unrepairable problem and fix it. Often better than the item in question was originally. Nicely done, Waddy!

that is one oldfashioned toolpost there Waddy, love the shot of the swarf.
It drives me mad when a small component breaks and they want to sell you the entire product.
My dad was a toolmaker so I was brought up with the concept that everyting is fixable.
