 This IS tuba_charlie, my son Charlie holding his 3/4 size tuba. He and his brother James jrrose1 got home for music camp at Western Connecticut University today. The concerts were excellent and the experience was very rewarding for all.

Lighting: Single tungsten 500w bulb in umbrella from side.
Editing: Converted RAW image in CS4. Topaz Adjust "photo pop" on duplicate layer. Desaturated using hue/saturation. Increased contrast using USM at large radius. Cropped and merged layers. Cloned in background to smooth blacks and rid some wrinkles. Minor clone in face and on shirt. Resize and Adamus sharpening.

Peter, very nice shot! probably the only username image where the subject is the real person! I can't believe how big our kids are getting...Another score above 6; only 3 more to go for 10 in a row!

This is by far the best image in the challenge. Spot on lighting, brilliant concept, probably one heck of an expensive tuba. My top pick for the challenge - 2.
