Well, this certainly wasn't planned. :-) I had been thinking about various usernames to use and was going to try a studio setup type shot after coming in for the evening. As it was, I took a couple bags of grain out to the barn on the ATV. Had the camera with me with the 50/1.4 on to goof around a little (didn't / don't have a FS shot yet for July). Put the grain away and was admiring the new rack extension I had put on the ATV. Took a couple shots, then the horses went around back. Hmmm...this could make an interesting juxtaposition! Went shallow because I wanted to keep the horse shape in the background but didn't want much detail.
Came in the house, had dinner, etc...finally pulled these up on the computer and instantly liked this shot. Hmmm...any usernames with 'horsepower'? Oooohhh! Steel Horse! Perfect. :-D
Spent more time trying to figure out if I wanted to shift the hue some to a more "steel" coloration (adding some blue). Liked this slightly earthy tone better in the long run. Hope this does "ok".

See, now the watermark on this one doesn't bother me. Almost looks like a commercial magazine kinda thing with a short caption on the photo. Doesn't detract from the flow or the mood of it at all. |

A totally brilliant image. I am not sure what to say as the image speaks volumes just in its self. The positioning is perfect, the sharpens and details on the ATV are tack sharp. The blur of a perfectly formed horse in the background makes this shot perfect. The colour is right, i think going a bit blue may have spoilt this capture. I am tilting my head just a fraction to the right, so a tiny straightening may be in order.

Stunning juxtaposition perfectly captured.
I have to give out two yellows just so I can reward the technique of this photo. Posthumous Yellow Ribbon for you.

I figure a bicycle or motorcyle is slightly more appropriate for that name, but why split hairs? It's good and does fit the name. |
