I fortunately didn't have to go far to find some amiable pigeons willing to have their picture taken for all to see. Finding the right framing, composition and agreeable weather proved a little more allusive. In the end I'm very happy with the way it turned out, dreary sky and all!

Thanks to everyone for the helpful comments. I was hoping to do better with this picture, but since it was my first entry EVER on DPC I'll chalk it up to a learning experience. Considering the subject of the competition in addition to my first wade into the contest waters I know it could have been worse. It's a good starting point, and look forward to entering more! :)

I think this shot is pretty nice without the pigeons. The birds add just that something extra to make this shot work really well for this challenge. Bump up!

Almost looks like one of those Russian churches.

The dodge around the edges is a bit too obvious. And watch your verticals and horizontals.

I like the overcast lighting and silver structures. The front brown wooden wall unfortunately detracts from this.

Hehe they look funny all huddled up. Little bit of HDR halo artifacts...The main subjects - the birds, are kinda far.

I think the title helps much here... my unimaginative eyes would have just seen a picture with a bunch of strange roof-things and some birds. But your title made me realize how curious it was that all the birds were clustered on one spot. That and the fact that they are positioned behind those two roof-things make them look almost conspiratorial. :) Very humorous, perfect composition, and neat color tones. 7

Or a pigeon conference of sorts. They seem to be up to something. Planning something, yes? I like this - nice combination of muted color, interesting shapes, and of course pigeons.
