 A sample I took from a mine tour near Manitourwadge, Ontario. Visible gold is a rarity these days. The mine geologist was a friend of a friend, so I was allowed to take it.

I don't expect much over a 5.0 for this, but at least voters will get to see some real gold.

Ya, ouch, I guess, but this shot turned out exactly the way I had intended, even better as the coloured streaks were an unexpected bonus. I think it gives a good feeling of being underground, which apparently isn't so great for a photo, hehe. :-D

The overall darkness of this photo means it is very hard to see any of the details, and this affects the score.

A non-traditional shot, and interesting take on the challenge. At first, I didnt like how dark the hand was, but then considering that you are 1Km underground, it seems much more accurate.
