With such a simple composition, I think the entire rock needed to be in focus. Also, the light needed to be more even, rather than having a large area in shaddow...... |

I love the way the warm browns of the rock contrast to the neutral gray background... really makes it pop. |

Excellent execution of the shallow DOF. Would have cropped this so the stone was more in the upper right corner. |

Why not have the whole rock in focus? Or focus on some interesting details? |

Your choice of aperature here, giving the really shallow DOF is what makes this shot. This rock has a lot of character, and good texture. Nicely captured. |
