Challenge: From Above II (Basic Editing)
Camera: Canon Power Shot SX10 IS
Location: Malvern, PA
Date: Jul 7, 2009
Aperture: f/5
ISO: 400
Shutter: 1/320

This was a bit of a stretch but, oh well. I decided to eat my lunch on a park bench today instead of my usual position sitting in my van. There was this poor unfortunate creature right next to the bench. I really had a hard time making the bird stand out against the background just using Basic rules.

Very sad, but nicely presented if that makes sense. Dead things rarely score well unless your name is Joey Lawrence. I think he got away with a dead bird or a dead butterfly or something.

Well, geez, Scott - you shot a dead bird!! (Photographically speaking.) I actually gave you a 7 for poignancy but I'm betting a lot of people wanted this off their screens as fast as possible! Now if I'd given you a 1, maybe you could have gotten the Brown ;-)

Very interesting take on and treatment of the subject. (I also document found corpses when they present. sfa is right, though, and you have the 17! ones to prove it).

Um, Oh. It was the dead bird curse that got you.
:-((

And neither of us got the coveted Brown...

very sad but still an interesting capture - i wish it was sharper -- but the softness adds a bit to the vulnerability and delicacy of the fallen bird...

A slight bit out of focus around the beak. Otherwise, nicely done. Well lit. View is from above, and a compelling subject.

Hmmm... either this is a painting or the processing has given it that illustrative look (a nice effect, but a guaranteed score killer). The vantage point isn't all that high either, so this is probably one of those entries that will score well below its potential. 7
